The pure allure of tradition

After a long an careful renovation that maintained and enhanced the typical features of the ancient stone building, today the farmhouse is a holiday country house rich in glamour and tradition.

The San Giorgio Country house was built in the late ‘700’s as a traditional farmhouse. Together with other farmhouses it was part of the “Santa Luce Estate”, which was owned by the noble family of the Counts Malechini. On the first floor lived two families of farmers, while the ground floor was used as a cellar, storage room and farm cart recovery. In the outbuildings (today the dependance) were the cattle shed, the hayloft, the pigsty, the chicken coup and a wood-burning oven. In front of the house there was the usual “threshing floor” where the threshing of corn took place and where the typical straw stacks were formed. Especially in the summer the threshing floor was the meeting place for the peasant families, which in the evening usually ended in friendly chats and dances to the sound of an accordion.
